Are you upset in the church?
If this happens to you then you should read this!
Are you upset over the behavior you experienced at the hands of church people who chose to punish instead of helping you?
Or who ignored you when they should have asked you out, restored you religiously, and returned you to the flock?
Most people who’ve been upset in the church could easily convince a committee it should never have happened. Think that it shouldn’t happen but it is – and past it won’t change it. Think if you were mugged and taken to the hospital, you wouldn’t spend all your time hounding about the mugger who beat you up, would you? No, in this case, your main focus would be improving as fast as possible! Ironically, with physical hurts, we ask for help instantly, but with emotional people, we’re likely to concentrate on the problem rather than the solution.
General Robert E. Lee once visited a house in Kentucky where a very angry woman showed him the remains of a great tree the Union cannon had crashed. She demanded Lee to sympathize with her and punish the Yankees. But rather, he simply answered, “Cut it down, dear lady, and forget it.”
No cost of bitterness could change that tree, but it could surely change his/her, and not for the better.
